It’s been a year. Both the longest and shortest year of my life, if that makes any sense. A few things that I have learned from this experience; make sure that someone knows your wishes. I had set up nothing and so my family had to guess at what I would want. They did a good job but it could have very well ended in chaos. If you live alone make sure someone knows. Also, you need to be the kind of person that keeps their word. I was found as quickly as I was because I am a person that does what I say I’m going to do. When I didn’t show up for work , they immediately knew something was wrong. You never know when someone needs to find you so just be a person of your word. Just to be on the safe side. Your independence is very important. When faced with the concept that I may have had to have someone take care of me for the rest of my life, I was distraught. I could not imagine that. Everything that you can do for yourself is significant, don’t take it for granted. You won’t miss your water until it’s gone, as it were. I’ve learned a lot about myself and my capabilities through this experience. I’d like to think I’m better, but am I? It’s debatable, I suppose. Moral of the story is enjoy your life to the fullest.
